Spectacular Residence by the Bay: Waikopua House
Waikopua House was designed by Daniel Marshall Architects and is found at the Waiheke Island, New Zealand. In line with the architects, “the concept that evolved from the premise of a family group camping, creating space between the functional nodes. This was particularly important in allowing space for the boats and water to transport throughout the valley to the bay below. This space was utilized to present physical separation to the guest house in addition a garage. The materials and form were chosen to be empathetic to the landscape and fauna. The home is designed to integrate into the landscape the stone walls were sourced locally, the windows are tinted to restrict reflection and the timber upper level stained dark to blend into the bush behind. It’s been said that the color of the hot Zealand native bush is black. It was important to activate the spaces across the house giving a progression to enjoy. From the lawn overlooking the ocean absorbing the morning light, to the non-public courtyard, framed by the Nikau grove, catching the last rays within the evening whilst enjoying the outdoor fire. Impressive Contemporary Residence in Bangkok: L71 House
L71 House was designed by studio Office AT and is found at the northeastern side of Bangkok, Thailand. Modern and chic, the residence sticks out on account of an attractive architecture, a clean interior design and a generous pool with palm trees. This is more at the project’s structure from the architects: “Each of the house programs equivalent to 4 bedrooms, dining room, and family room are placed along the location to stand the North. Because the owners have occasional parties, the general public areas, which includes lounge and parking, are within the front of the home, and the personal areas are within the back of the home together with a swimming pool. The living room mass was extended to create private space for the swimming pool and the second one floor mass was extended to create shading for the swimming pool and terrace. If the home is designed as one big mass it will block ventilation and natural light, so during this house each room is split to maximise ventilation and natural light”. The entire costs for building this residence were 13 million Baht, which converts to $420,000 USD.
