1. Trendland
Staying on top of trends is the pulse of any design field. i like the Trendland website since it showcases the hit list of all styles of design in a single place. This fashion i’m able to easily stay in tune with the design world as an entire.
Skim Milk: NK-House by Flow
Designed by Japanese-based architect Takashi Satoh of Flow, NK-Home is a two-story residence located in Gunma, Japan. The outside is clothed in charcoal metal panels that run linearly through the home. The roof is skewed to permit further lighting to go into the loft-like space at the second floor.
A small courtyard separates the master suite from the kitchen, living, and dining areas of the home. The strip of courtyard is surrounded by large sliding glass doors, which permit for natural lighting and transparency between the spaces. The white interior is balanced by the soft-colored wooden flooring and contrasted with the skin panels.
I am most intrigued with how the gap is segregated during the home. i like how the sloping ceiling produces barely enough space to incorporate a lofted room with a terrific view and loads of natural lighting.
Dwell on Design Exclusive House Tour: Rose House
I am unable to wait Dwell on Design this year, but luckily DoD offered to capture one of the crucial homes at the tour exclusively for AGOF.net. So this week and next week, you will get to look the interior and outdoors of a few of the foremost designy homes in Los Angeles.
The Rose House, located in Venice, was designed by duArchitects to be open, airy, and as green as possible.
Engineered with a hybrid steel/wood structural system, the house is 2 floors of budget-friendly materials. In step with the architect, “the bottom floor is a elegant concrete slab with a hydronic radiant heating system. The second one floor (bedrooms) is wood framed with hardwood floors. The ceilings are rough-sawn redwood. The roof has a 4kw photovoltaic electrical system that gives many of the electricity had to power the house.”
